I think I am one of the oldest members in the band, not just in age but through membership. I joined Chobham Band in 1958, beginning my banding learning percussion. I then progressed to Baritone within a year. I have played Baritone most of the time, apart from a brief period, when needs must and I went on to Tenor Horn to fill a gap, and then a few years ago I became ill with Trigeminal Neuralgia and had to give up playing. I thought that would be the end of my playing but I am pleased to say that I am now back playing second Cornet and enjoying it. For many years I was the Bands secretary but am now the Chairman. I have during my banding career been secretary of the Southern Counties Amateur Brass Bands Association.
