Gill Elliott

I started playing trumpet at 12 years old and joined a new Guildford brass band, which is now the Friary Brass Band.  I swiftly changed to Bb cornet and worked my way up to lower solo cornet until I left when I was 19.  I also played a couple of years for the Cranleigh Youth Band and then about a year for the Bagshot Concert Band.   After a break of about 15 years I decided I would like to return to banding and joined Bisley under the leadership of Peter Stickland.  I played tenor horn for a few years before making the bold step onto Soprano, which I very much enjoyed. I’m now back on Bb cornet on the front row, the challenge of which keeps me on my toes.
