Striking Up The Band!

What a fantastic evening! We thoroughly enjoyed our Celebration of the Last Night of the Proms concert last Saturday. With a varied first half and the more traditional second half, the evening was enjoyed by all, and it was lovely to welcome our audience on a pleasant September evening.

We were honoured to once again be joined by Norman Holden whose wonderful rendition of Pass Me By was a hit, and he also was joined by our very own Lesley at the end of the evening to lead the singing in Land of Hope & Glory and Jeruselum.

Of course, we had to honour Sir Henry Wood without whom it would not be The Last Night of the Proms as we know it, so we put the chaplet around his neck and gave him 3 cheers!

We were also privileged to be joined by Robert Eyres from the York Road Project, the local charity adopted by the band this early this year. All donations received from community events will be passed to this local homelesness charity whose work is invaluable. See their website https://yorkroadproject.org.uk/ for more information.

As always, we are so grateful to everyone who helped to make this concert possible. We couldn’t do it without every single one of you so thank you!
