A Celebration of the Last Night of the Proms
September 28th, 2019
Just like the real thing, there was singing, flag waving and party popping…..and a great performance from the band! The first half started with Breakfast Melody, and included the beautiful film music Crimson Tide and the very popular Best of Bond, with the highlight being the fantastic Trumpeter’s Lullaby played wonderfully by our principal cornet player Dave Meekings. The second half was mainly the traditional Last Night of the Proms music including Pomp and Circumstance, Fantasy on British Sea Songs and Jerusalem, with our very own Helen Maguire leading the singing. A fantastic evening with great feedback from our lovely audience. With thanks to our ever appreciated deps.
West End Show
September 14th, 2019
Once again the sun shone for us as we entertained competitors and visitors alike. We played a varied programme of light music including Sway (as sung by Michael Bublé) and a trilogy of tunes from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats, together with some more traditional marches, which all seemed to go down well.
Those of us who had the chance to have a look at some of the entries in the numerous craft, bakery and produce categories were impressed with the standard, and one band member liked the chickens so much she actually bought some!
Brass on the Grass
July 14th, 2019
Benign weather for our annual Brass on the Grass concert on Bisley Village Green on 14 July. Everyone seemed to enjoy it … and there was still time afterwards to see the exciting finale of the cricket World Cup.
June 30th, 2019
The sun was shining, dancers dancing, ice cream being served and Almac Bisley Brass Band playing. A lovely relaxing afternoon was had by all at Bisley’s annual traditional style fete. We were once again in our usual position near the Pimm’s tent and a number of people stopped for a listen whilst they sipped their beverages. With thanks to our guest players for their invaluable help on the day.
Bisley Church Vicarage Garden Party
June 15th, 2019
Our annual appearance at the garden party this year was a little damp, but otherwise an enjoyable afternoon. Our light programme, following some lovely performances by the pupils of Holy Trinity school, entertained the guests as they relaxed by the the tea and beer tents, and few of our members were particularly lucky on the bottle tombola!
Spring Concert 2019
May 18th, 2019
Our lovely audience was treated to an eclectic programme and seemed happy to have missed the Eurovision Song Contest in favour of attending a much classier act! The Alan Brown Trophy, also known as the “players player” trophy was presented by the band’s President, Kate Brown, to Richard Everett, who had entertained us with his fantastic trombone solo “Yes, we have no Bananas”, and a cameo appearance in “West Country Fantasy”. There was one proud mum in the audience!

Big and Brassy Rehearsal
February 14th, 2019
Our Big and Brassy Scene 3 cohort descended on Sandhurst’s rehearsal room last week for a first look at the programme. It was very kind of Sandhurst to invite us and we are now all very excited to working towards the massed band concert at Alderhot’s Princes Hall on 31st March 2019.
November 10, 2018
We were honoured to be a part of the Remembrance Weekend at Guildford Cathedral, playing at the Saturday night Evensong service.
