The band enjoyed providing some musical festive cheer on Saturday. Together with some of the old staples such as Christmas Joy, Schneewaltzer and Christmas Festival, we also played Wellerman (the Sea Shanty which has been a tik tok sensation) and 76 (5) Trombones.

And of course we couldn’t leave out 12 Days of Christmas for the finale!
The audence participation, whilst more restrained than usual due to Covid restrictions, was great, and we could still hear them singing the Carols through their masks, and a lovely evening appears to have been had by all.
Traditionally, the Douglas Pope trophy is presented at the Christmas concert by the Musical Director to the person who they think has contributed most to the band as a whole over the year. This year, the trophy went to our new Chair, Vanessa Phillips, who has done a fantastic job of guiding and managing the band through these difficult times. Thank you Vanessa!

With special thanks once again to our wonderful deps, and to all of the band members, supporters and their families who help with the preparation before the concert, and the clearing up afterwards. We couldn’t do it without you!
And last but certainly not least, Merry Christmas to you all!
