From Abbeys to Rivers, from Monastery Gardens to searching for the Pink Panther, we enjoyed bringing our audience an eclectic programme on Saturday . With a couple of pop songs thrown in and the opportunity to wish a few of our valued audience members a happy birthday, a good evening was had by all.
A particular highlight was our soloist for the evening, Vanessa Phillips, who played “Can You Feel My Love”. Not an easy task, but performed beautifully by Vanessa.
Our Spring Concert is also the time to present the The Alan Brown Trophy, our annual “player’s player” award, to the player who is voted to have excelled musically during the year. The award this year was so thoroughly deserved by our percussionist Michael Nagle, who has recently rejoined the band after a few years’ hiaitus and who had the chance to show off his skills with his fantastic rendition “Drummer’s Delight” as our encore. The trophy this year was awarded by our former Musical Director, Peter Stickland.
To enable our concerts to take place, we rely on help from many people. So thanks go to members of the band and their friends and family, members of the Bisley community and everyone else who all go above and beyond to help make events like this happen.
We also rely on our wonderful deps to boost our numbers to enhance the music we bring to you. We always welcome new players, so to find out more about becoming a playing member of the band, contact Vanessa or Graham via our contacts page who will be very happy to hear from you.
We will be playing at Guildford Castle Grounds Bandstand on 9th June, 2pm, so if you missed the concert, or want to hear more, come and join us!
