Christmas Concert

14th December 2019

This was a fun festive occasion, with a mix of light Christmas music and some audience carol singing, not to mention a couple of jokes from our musical director! We also had a couple of very special presentations. The Douglas Pope Trophy is awarded annually at the Christmas Concert to the person who the musical director feels has made the best contribution to the band as a whole over the past year. This year, however, the trophy went to none other than our Bass Trombone player, Len Tamplin, for his dedication to the band for the last 70 years! There was also a special presentation to Len’s wife, Dorothy, for her unwavering help over the years with tea and coffee etc. A thoroughly deserved recognition for this lovely couple, without whom the band would not be the same! All recipients of the Douglas Pope Trophy receive a replica shield to keep, so Alastair was presented with his for winning the 2018 trophy.
